Old School Games: Suikoden II

Heyaaaa!! so, this is my 1st entry in this blog ~ and i decided to write something about the game Suikoden II from PS1. Its one of the most epic game for me. Well the graphics isn't that good (of course its from ps1 duh?) but the story and the twist is reaaaaallly interesting, making the game one of my all time fave ~ so lets get this started shall we? here's the cover image for Suiko2's cd
Description: Sequel to the early PlayStation RPG. As a member of the Alliance, a military force only really hinted at in the original, you play the unwitting hero of the game: an orphan who has been raised by a quiet, unassuming battle hero in a seemingly ancient war. Alongside you in the ranks is your best friend Jowy, a boy born of nobility but who has never been able to receive approval in his stubborn father's eyes. As the game begins, you are immediately tossed into a tale of political strife, betrayal and war on a grand scale beyond your scope in the early stages. As the game wears on, the plot will twist, turn and develop in numerous ways that expose the personalities of each of the characters involved. The battle system is turn-based, with the option to equip Runes for special abilities, combine party member attacks to create chain combos or devastating spells, and the option to run the battle in Auto mode. Well, reading the description shows how interesting the story is ayt? but im pretty sure majority of you guys have played this game. So, lets get it on. Suiko2 is the 1st game I played on where you could use 6 characters at the same time. At 1st I was like "WTF? this is cool! 6 chars at the same time" but when I read a walkthrough regarding the game, I was like "HOLY SHIT?! 108 frigging chars?!" yeah, you read it right :)) you need to collect 108 stars of destiny (108 warriors~ the main char is included in the 108). It sounds absurd at 1st but its pretty cool. The downside is some characters are HARD to get and some are even missable, but in the end you only get to use 6 out of the 108 so its just a matter of favoritism. Well if you want and easy win then get the strong ones in your party but i dun like doing that.
nostalgic eh? The main char and Jowy's BUDDY ATTACK

hohoh ~ FAMILY ATTACK by the main char and Nanami

Another interesting feat of this game is the army war battles. Its super cute and funny. You get your characters to be the generals or sumtin and when the story strikes, you will need to fight using your army against the enemies.
army clash!! pretty cute eh? :))

Well, this is getting pretty long so I guess this is it. If you'll ask me, ill rate this game 8.5 out of 10. Yeah the graphics is lame but every aspect is interesting. From the story, characters, character backgrounds, and MINI GAMES!!! Btw, the cooking showdown mini game is fucking awesome!!! Its one of my most fave parts on the game. Also, what makes this game cool is you can play it w/ your left hand only LMAO! thumb for arrow key/analog and then the index finger for L1 (accept) and L2 (cancel). I can even eat my lunch while playing this game. Specially, if you are already "imba" you only need to choose "Auto" and then your chars will pawn the enemies automatically.

So, this concludes my 1st entry ~ sry it was kinda lame. Im not used in this kinds of things yet. Ill try my best next time ~ sore ja !!

One of the reasons I really enjoyed this series is because of that 108 stars, gotta catch 'em all lol. And now I'm starting to miss my Viki. D:
