who says covering songs are a disaster? let SCANDAL show you how they do their covers!

hey people, i'm back. so let's get down to business with part 2 review, shall we?

one of the reasons SCANDAL has been attracting worldwide attention is of course the release of Shunkan Sentimental.

one month after this release, SCANDAL are attracting attention again when they decided to do a cover song in SCANDAL ~Shunkan Sakura Zensen TOUR~ 2010 SPRING.

before this tour, they did a poll on twitter, asking people to choose a song out of 600 for them to cover. As a result, the song that emerge victorious is ZONE's secret base ~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~.

who's ZONE you all may ask. they share quite a pattern to SCANDAL that the band members are also young. they raise to the fame because of this song. basically, i tell you the copies this single sold. 744,000 copies. and i let you all see how this sing was sang by ZONE.

unfortunately, ZONE was disbanded in mid 2005.

now a new girl band, in the name of SCANDAL, was told to cover the hit song done by ZONE. the pressure is big. but yet, it was this song that marks the start for people to see just how good SCANDAL are, even when it comes to covering songs. this is because even though this song was performed specially for the Tour, it eventually leads to a PV release from SCANDAL!

look at the way on how they sing. full of emotions, exactly what ZONE has done for this song! you can just notice the feelings when you see either one of the PVs.

and just simply to this song, SCANDAL and ZONE are compared. i won't say much about this. cause SCANDAL is SCANDAL, ZONE is ZONE, both bands work it differently.

so now that covering other songs makes a hit for SCANDAL. you may thought this is the end.....

MATE NE!

not the end of course. ANIMAX MUSIX SPRING 2010 is the next chance for them to show their power in covering songs again! this is a music extravaganza taking place in Tokyo, where artists performing the hottest anime theme songs. SCANDAL was one of the guest artists too. not only these, these artists are allowed to cover some of the songs too! for SCANDAL, they covered Hajimete no Chuu (First Kiss) and TOUCH.

Hajimete no Chuu is originally a song that comes from Anshin Papa, and is used for the anime "Kiteretsu Daihyakka".

as for TOUCH, it is an original song from Iwasaki Yoshimi, for the anime "Touch".

these 2 songs are based on 80's series time. so ya, i agree that the song doesn't sound that right to me. if you all are having difficulty in finishing hearing, stop and listen to how SCANDAL covers it.

Hajimete no Chuu

Touch

my feelings? BLOWN. TOTALLY BLOWN. 2 classic songs are transformed to pop songs which people are liking nowadays. this is simply unbelievable! is just as if a rusty stone has been transformed into a precious gem! i'm really amazed at how SCANDAL do their covers! there is an element of pop/rock whenever they cover a song!

and then on November, they of course release the Cover Mini-Album "R-GIRL'S ROCK", which of course the details has been given by Yuujin Ang.

the best cover they done in my opinion, is Touch and Roppongi Shinjuu. cause both songs are real power rock. very energetic.

and right, that ends the review today. feel free to comment. impressions on how SCANDAL do their covers? which cover you like the most throughout the songs they have covered in 2010? other comments are also warmly welcomed!

as for the next review, i will be posting in wednesday since i will be having my holidays. it's much more related to other genres they challenged, just one song of course they have done.

OYASU! ~~~
